World View successfully completed a major milestone test flight on October 24th, 2015, keeping the company on track to meet its 2017 goal for manned private flights to the edge of space. This test flight carried a scaled down, replica spacecraft to a final altitude of 100,475 feet (30,624 meters), successfully marking the transition from sub-scale testing to a historical next stage of development – full scale testing.

StratEx – short for “Stratospheric Exploration,” was a project led by Paragon Space Development Corporation to carry Google Exec Alan Eustace to the edge of space beneath a high-altitude balloon. On October 24th, 2014, Eustace successfully completed a world record dive from 135,908 feet. World View has since acquired the key technology, personnel, and lessons learned from this historic program.

On June 18th, 2014, World View successfully completed a 10% scale test flight of its high-altitude balloon spaceflight system, testing several essential components for consumer flights and breaking the world record for highest parafoil flight in the process. The test flight focused on four main areas; launch & ground ops, parafoil aerodynamics, precision guided landing, and safety systems.

WORLD VIEW BREAKS WORLD RECORD

In June 2014, World View, the commercial balloon spaceflight company, successfully completed a scaled test flight of its high-altitude balloon systems and broke the world record for the highest parafoil flight in the process. Though components of the experience have been tested in the past, this marks the first time all elements of the spaceflight system were tested together. It was a huge success and a major milestone for the company.
